Thierry Gilhodez was born in 1952, qualified from the Ecole Nationale des Métiers d'Art in 1975 and was named Meilleur Ouvrier de France in 1986 for his work as a glass artist. He makes stained glass windows and unique productions for companies, local authorities, private individuals and cultural centres. He has developed his own fused glass technique to avoid the systematic constraints associated with lead. As well as teaching at the CERFAV until 2001, he has also written two books about stained glass: Vitrail et vitriol (1997) and Vitrail en fusion (2002). His productions can be found in private collections, at the Clair-Obscur gallery, at the Musée du Vitrail and at the national glass centre in San Ildefonso, Spain.
