Pascal Laloy

My work as an artist was focussed for a long time on series of dolls. Today, it is concentrated on heads, canvasses ranging in size from small to very large formats.
Although painting is at the heart of my research, I also explore collage, sometimes to the point of abstraction. Heads (and dolls heads) have always been the principle subject of my painting, since the beginning.
A notion of fiction is a guideline to my research: the shapes are head-objects that can stimulate a sensation of emptiness and hollowness... raising questions of identity.
My material is often thick, splattered, dripped paint. The heads gradually appear in this mud, through successive layers and overlaps. Sometimes even by accident!
