Chantal Favard, who has been living in the Landes region since 1981, who is passionate about nature and inquisitive with regards to the riches that it has to offer, has discovered corn - a plant which is omnipresent in this area - the practical way in which former generations used it and above all small figurines made with the leaves that envelope the cob. It is therefore not a brand new idea, but using this concept as a base, the "rekindling" process is a result of meetings and research on the history of the Landes, the type of work carried out in former days, past and current traditions. A self-taught dabbler, who is creative, opinionated and imaginative, she creates her own characters that incorporate her sensitivity, her memories, her feelings and her observations of the world. She can also - on request - create unique or tailored characters. This natural medium inspires her. Corn leaves can be folded, bent and shaped into the required form. These small, natural sculptures are born underneath her fingers. She calls them the little corn-fellows, "Lous bonomilhocs" in Gascon.
