"When I go through a town, a garden, I look at them in a different way. I really like painting: that delicate discipline, that permanent search for an image that can express your interior vision on things or your deepest feelings". In my workshop, I spend a lot of time reflecting in order to ensure that a painting will never leave someone feeling indifferent. I favour tricks with colours that I apply thickly onto canvases, with the help of different materials like plaster, sand, silicone etc.... I let my imagination show me the way resulting in spontaneous creations with no particular boundaries. Little by little, shapes and faces appear... I spend most of my time on the faces. I like them to be expressive, like a snapshot. They look surprised, sometimes melancholic, indifferent or curious. In painting, I am classed as a marginal artist. Personally, I'm drawn to expressionism so let's say that I feel marginally expressional... My work tries to reflect my feelings, my questions, maybe to find answers or hope? In fact, my deepest desire is that when you are standing in front of my paintings, you feel the same happiness, the same emotions that I felt when I was creating them..." Marc ZARKA
