Josette JOMARAY-AYROLES started exhibiting in 1985. She is mainly self-taught and has attended special courses at the Toulouse Ecole des Beaux Arts.
She has worked in paint, clay and etching workshops. Her work: the theme of "Prints and Signs"... She set up her studio, filling it with large unframed canvas wall panels of sometimes huge dimensions and Japanese paper. Her work uses textile to add the freedom of dimension, the choice of shape, colour and material. Un-weaving and re-weaving by hand. Collages integrating pieces of leather, coloured paper, dyed canvas. Painting with earth pigments and metallic oxides mixed with homemade "media". Her papers are worked, crushed, torn, folded and dyed according to ancient techniques. Her signs are unintentional, tracks, prints, an emanation of the spirit, embryos of written language, suggestions of ideology provided by the threads of wool dipped in paint, printed on the backing...
