Bernard ORANGE An arborescent artwork Passionate about books, Bernard Orange could easily have chosen to express himself by writing. He definitely did not deprive himself of the use of a quill, A keen reader of Prévert, of whom he incidentally possesses several signed collections, Bernard became aware of his gift when he was a young pupil at Victor Grignard de Cherbourg secondary school. Whilst evoking that period, Orange, in passing, uses the occasion to pay tribute to an excellent teacher, Jean Lefèbvre, who always said to his pupils "one does not paint the letter L of lead in the same way as one would paint the letter L of love". Bernard Orange has never forgotten that advice. Painting is giving life to an illusion, being able to feel each material in each object, in each dream. "Painter and illustrator, particularly talented in both of these disciplines, Bernard ORANGE has managed to build his artwork by acquiring a basic, graphical structure and constant emotion released by the paint and the colours. Having always been fascinated by the arts, since 1970 Bernard ORANGE pieces together his completely new dimensions, motifs often marked with meticulous surrealism, with many strange and humorous subtleties. Since then, drawing his inspiration from the most diverse themes, bursting with mysterious symbols, with seduction, with recognizable and strange beings but eminently expressive, he relentlessly surprises and seduces. Indisputably, his incisive poetry of what is real, metamorphoses in to foreign illusions, in to magical dreams, filled with characters who shatter our Cartesian way of thought but react in a positive manner to the unconscious of each one of us, as their emergence of the composition catches and keeps our attention and reflection. Whether in black and white, using India ink or paint with flowing colours which are always warm and harmonious and in accordance with legends and fantasies, Bernard ORANGE predominates with his fantasy creations, put together in good humour, with vitality, which in reality produce an atmosphere of light and subtle, reflective grace. Thus, with passion and talent, Bertrand ORANGE has built himself his own universe, which he explores for his own pleasure as a creator and as a wondrous amateur, striving to confront himself in an intelligent and seductive manner. Discovering this artist means a new and strange adventure, which can be compared to an unknown and generous fruit, knowing how to deliver its basic essentials, somewhat in a harsh manner, but with delight."
