"Human representation is the centre of my work. My people are not portraits and any similarity to real people is purely coincidental (but then again…) They are like the people I pass in the street, the people on my TV screen, those that appear in the glossy pages of my magazines. They are a mixture of all those, a memory. I present them at a specific moment. You can guess at their past or their future, but they only exist in the present. The light that caresses them is always the same and the shadow that devours them never grows.
