"I arrived in France when I was 10 years old, my head still filled with memories of South Algeria, of the purple-coloured ink that the teacher used to pour into white, porcelain inkpots every morning, of the treasures that I used to dig out of my grandfather's workshop in Ouargla... I studied history of the contemporary Arab world to try and combine my former and my new self. It helped me to become more knowledgeable but I also needed to feel emotions, to say things in another way, with signs and states that where different. After many attempts to find my path, I exchanged the paintbrush for a nib, canvas for media and oil for ink. I surreptitiously realized that I was gliding towards a new support, as if I was reminiscing. What I am: a girl from over there, a woman from here, I believe that I use my ink to create vanishing points, links, ruptures and overlaps." »
