PALIMPSESTE "Maybe they were sitting in seats like this - the women of all ages, patient embroiderers of bouquets, of scenes in the countryside and of small dogs... A comfortable base, an enveloping but not enclosed back, revealed a bamboo and cardboard structure during its dismantling, evoking accessibility to comfort in the 1960s.Each patiently-mottled canvas reveals the age, address and creativity of its author. All of them allowed themselves to be lulled by the soft repetition of their work and the thousands of stitches, of gestures which accompanied thousands of thoughts. Piece after piece, the little seat was clothed with their presence and feeling and emotion were impregnated in to this tribute to soft contemplation. There is nothing condescending or simplistic in this reflection, no, simply the witness of a condition and an immense gratitude. When I look at this piece of furniture, I think of those women and I feel peaceful..." » Chantal Roynette
