He is a self-taught painter who has been exhibiting for a number of years, each series achieving a certain success with the public. He is known for his compositions and sense of colour and is regularly contacted for commissions. "Emprise", his latest work, is inspired by the Support/Surface movement, particularly Claude Viallat's work. The almost serial reproduction of this repetitive shape, difficult to comment being organic, undefined object, line, print all at once, leaves the work open to interpretation and demands a certain rigour on the canvas. Texts (sometimes poetry, sometimes plays), nautical charts, feathers, zinc, small glued objects or even newspaper clippings add to the mystery of the propos to upset the balance and hide the trail... |
